How thick is terrazzo?

From a 2 mm coating to a 30 mm panel, why terrazzo is thick, and when thin is the right answer.

14 questions in this harvest fall under this subject. 4 answered so far.

There is no single answer, because terrazzo covers a 2 mm coating and a 30 mm pressed panel. Cement-bound and poured floors are usually 10-15 mm, precast panels 20-30 mm, epoxy 3-6 mm and liquid terrazzo under 3 mm. Which one you need is decided by the span and the substrate, not by preference.

How thick is terrazzo flooring?

There is no single answer, because terrazzo covers a 2 mm coating and a 30 mm pressed panel. Cement-bound and poured floors are usually 10-15 mm, precast panels 20-30 mm, epoxy 3-6 mm and liquid terrazzo under 3 mm. Which one you need is decided by the span and the substrate, not by preference.

What sizes does terrazzo tile come in?

The Chinese standard enumerates them: lengths from 300 to 3200 millimetres, widths from 300 to 1800, thicknesses of 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50 and 60 millimetres. That is a real list rather than the custom-order answer most suppliers give, and it means a 3200 by 1600 by 20 panel is a standard-compliant product and not an exception.

How thick should a terrazzo floor tile be?

Twelve to eighteen millimetres for an installed terrazzo topping, and the code does not leave it as a preference: JC/T 507-2022 limits the largest stone chip to two thirds of the topping thickness. Twelve millimetres of topping therefore caps the chip at eight, and eighteen millimetres allows twelve.

What is an 8 to 12 mm terrazzo panel?

A precast panel with the aggregate running through its whole thickness rather than a thin topping on a thicker slab, made in the 8 to 12 millimetre band. The consequence is arithmetic: at 8 millimetres the largest chip the code allows is about 5.3. You are buying a different look as well as a different thickness, and the look is fine aggregate.

How this is actually asked

These are the phrasings people typed, not headings we invented. Where one has an answer the link is live; where it does not it is printed plain, and that is deliberate — a printed question with nothing behind it is an honest promise, and hiding it is not.
