Luminous Panel is one of the reference colourways in our colourway library, taken from a published manufacturer catalogue with the company’s marks removed. It is a precast inorganic (cement-bound) terrazzo panel: a luminescent mix that gives light back in the dark, cast, cured and ground in the factory rather than laid wet on site.

The same panel, day and night

The catalogue publishes two photographs of this panel: one in daylight and one after dark, and the second is the point — the mix carries a luminescent fraction, so the panel takes light in and gives it back in the dark. The figures below were measured from the daylight photograph; the after-dark photograph is shown beside it, both as published. How long it glows, and how brightly, is a property of the mix and the charge it has had, and the catalogue does not print either number, so neither does this page.

Measured colour, not a colour name

A name for a colour is a judgement; four numbers are a measurement. These were measured from the manufacturer’s published photograph of this colourway — no sample was made for this entry — and they are the same four figures for every entry in the library, so two pale greys can be compared instead of argued about.

Mean surface colour #1C4442 · RGB 28,68,66
Chip darkness (10th-percentile luminance) 0 of 255

Standard formats

This reference carries no size table: the source is a slide photograph of the product, and the slide prints the application, not the formats. Any size, shape or edge is cut to order in our workshop — tile, slab, stair tread, threshold, countertop or wall panel.

What decides the outcome

Panels for one floor are set aside as one lot. A floor assembled from four purchases is a floor with four colours in it, and no amount of laying fixes that. The swatch on this page says which lot to ask for; it cannot say what the next lot will look like, because no swatch can.

Reference swatch. This is the manufacturer’s published photograph of the colourway, not a photograph of goods we made, and the colour on screen is not a colour-match. Ask for a sample of the batch before you specify; we quote against a batch, not against a picture.

This entry is a reference. It carries no price because there is no stock behind it. Send the name and the format and we quote against a real batch.
